Pokemon GO's Fashion Week: Taken Over event introduces a highly anticipated feature: remote raid passes for Shadow Raids. This limited-time event, running from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time, allows players to participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids remotely, using remote raid passes.
This marks the first time remote raid passes are usable in Shadow Raids, a popular game mode introduced in 2023 known for its high-IV Pokémon. The increased accessibility extends to the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. local time), offering boosted shiny Shadow Ho-Oh encounter rates and the chance to teach it Sacred Fire. Furthermore, players can utilize Charged TMs to remove the Frustration move from Shadow Pokémon.
While this feature is event-exclusive, its temporary availability fulfills a long-standing player request. The decision follows criticism regarding the in-person requirements of previous events like Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, suggesting a potential permanent implementation in the future remains a possibility. However, post-event, remote raid passes will no longer function in Shadow Raids. Whether this is a trial run or a one-time offering remains to be seen.
