Mastering your character in Avowed hinges on understanding and effectively leveraging Attributes. These six core traits significantly impact your gameplay, each offering unique benefits tailored to different playstyles. Let's rank them from least to most impactful.
Every Attribute in Avowed
Avowed features six key Attributes:
Might: Boosts physical and spiritual strength, increasing damage output from all sources and expanding your carry capacity. A high Might score can even unlock unique dialogue options, potentially intimidating foes or avoiding conflict entirely.
Constitution: Enhances overall health and endurance, increasing your maximum health and bolstering your resistance to poison and bleeding effects. It also unlocks specific dialogue options.
Dexterity: Accelerates attack and action speeds, improving weapon and ability usage, consumable deployment, parkour, and reload times. It's all about enhanced mobility and efficiency.
Perception: Increases critical hit chance and extends the maximum range of ranged weapons (bows, wands, guns). While it offers some dialogue options, their impact on gameplay is generally minimal.
Intellect: Increases maximum Essence and resistance to ignited, shocked, and frozen statuses. Crucial for spellcasters, but also beneficial for characters utilizing Essence-based abilities. Additional dialogue options are available.
Resolve: Improves maximum stamina and Second Wind effectiveness. Ideal for heavy weapon users and tank builds. Unlocks dialogue options with effects similar to Constitution.
Best Avowed Attributes, Ranked

While each Attribute caters to specific builds, some offer broader advantages. Here’s our ranking to guide your character creation and Attribute point allocation:
6. Perception
Perception, while boosting critical hit chance and ranged weapon range, proves surprisingly niche. The effectiveness of increased range is highly situational, often less impactful in the close-quarters combat prevalent in Avowed. While useful against specific enemy types, it's not a top priority for most builds.
5. Resolve
Increased stamina is undeniably helpful, but readily obtainable through unique armor. Second Wind, though useful, is often outweighed by focusing on survivability through increased health and mobility, or effective tanking strategies.
4. Intellect
Intellect enhances maximum Essence and elemental resistances. Elemental resistances are invaluable, mitigating significant damage. Even non-magical builds benefit from increased Essence, as many abilities utilize it.
3. Dexterity
Dexterity offers across-the-board improvements to attack and action speeds, boosting mobility, item usage, and weapon/ability speeds. A solid choice for all builds, enhancing DPS and overall agility.
2. Constitution
Constitution directly increases maximum health and resistance to poison and bleeding—two frequently lethal status effects in Avowed. This significant boost to survivability makes it a highly valuable Attribute.
1. Might
Might reigns supreme, offering a substantial increase to damage output across all weapons, significantly boosting DPS. Its secondary benefit—increased carry capacity—is equally crucial, preventing the need to leave behind valuable loot and maintaining mobility. This makes it a must-have for all builds.
