Bloodmoon Island, nestled in the north of Reaper's Coast, is shrouded in mystery and surrounded by the lethal Deathfog. The only bridge connecting it to the mainland is destroyed, making traditional access impossible. Venturing to Bloodmoon Island not only enriches the main storyline but also unlocks additional side quests. However, the game offers scant clues on navigating the Deathfog to reach this enigmatic location. Here’s how you can reach Bloodmoon Island and advance your journey in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Originally, Bloodmoon Island was accessible via a bridge from Reaper's Coast, located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the homes of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching this bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. By casting Spirit Vision, you can reveal the broken sections of the bridge, which are also trapped, adding a layer of challenge to your crossing. However, with the right tools and skills, you can overcome these obstacles:
Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired early in the game, these gloves allow you to teleport without needing the skill. Though time-consuming, you can teleport each party member across the bridge using these gloves.
Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, making them invaluable for navigating the broken bridge. Not all party members may possess these skills, but alternative methods can help.
Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow teleportation between pyramids. With two pyramids, one member can cross using translocation skills, and the rest of the party can then teleport to them.
Fast Travel: Once a member with translocation skills reaches the other side, they can discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel there without needing to cross the bridge.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
If your party includes Fane, an undead character immune to Deathfog, you have an additional route to Bloodmoon Island. Northwest of Cloisterwood, you'll find a pier with an undead ferryman who promises safe passage across the Deathfog. However, this is a trap; only Fane can survive the journey. By having Fane take the ferry alone, he can safely reach Bloodmoon Island, unlock the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel there.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
For parties without Fane, you can still use the ferry with the help of Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain your party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the member taking the ferry.
- After they take the ferry and die on Bloodmoon Island's pier, use the second pyramid to teleport the rest of the party to the deceased member.
- Revive the dead member using a resurrection spell or scroll.
If your party lacks Fane, crossing the bridge is the fastest and safest way to reach Bloodmoon Island.
It's advisable not to attack the Undead Ferryman, as he can cast a Deathfog spell that's instantly fatal. If you're determined to confront him, quick save before attacking. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, a regular belt, and 3,750 XP.
