A former Respawn Entertainment employee revealed on their LinkedIn profile that an unannounced project has been canceled after several years of development. No official reason for the cancellation has been given.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb reported the project wasn't a mainline Titanfall entry, confirming it wasn't Titanfall 3. Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team" of multiplayer shooter specialists for its creation.
This isn't the first cancellation for Respawn; an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends was also scrapped last year.
The Titanfall series, known for its unique blend of pilot-based combat and powerful Titan mechs, has enjoyed significant popularity since its 2014 debut. Its innovative gameplay, combining parkour and dynamic team battles, set it apart.
Respawn is currently concentrating on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the third installment in the Jedi series, and a new, unannounced Star Wars strategy game developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
