If you’ve missed or forgotten the clue provided by Samin, here’s how to get back on track: make your way to the Iceshard Cliffs region. Unfortunately, this isn’t a simple waypoint mission where your Seikret companion can lead the way directly to the target.
Instead, spotting the Rime Beetle relies on keen observation and a bit of luck. Fortunately, this endemic creature leaves behind visible signs—snowballs it rolls up as it moves. These snowballs are easy to spot, especially in snowy terrain.
To increase your chances of finding one, focus your search in these specific areas within the Iceshard Cliffs:
- Area 2
- Area 7
- Area 8
- Area 11
- Area 13
Once inside these zones, explore the snowy patches thoroughly. You may also notice tracks left in the snow—these trails can be followed directly to the Rime Beetle.

Although you can manually pick up the Rime Beetle using your Hook Slinger, the main goal is to properly capture it. To do so, equip your Capture Net, which should already be part of your inventory.
Follow these steps to successfully capture the beetle:
- Hold L1/LB to access your tools.
- Scroll through the list and select the Capture Net.
- Press Square/X to equip it.
- Use L2/LT to aim.
- Target the Rime Beetle until it turns orange on your screen.
- Fire the net to complete the capture.
Successfully capturing the Rime Beetle adds it to your collection and completes Samin’s request. If you choose to collect them manually instead, you’ll receive Frost Pods, which are useful for dealing ice-based damage during combat.
