Mastering Fishing in Rune Slayer: A Comprehensive Guide
If you're wondering if Rune Slayer is an MMORPG, the presence of fishing should settle that debate. This guide will walk you through the surprisingly unintuitive fishing mechanics.

Begin by accepting the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the pier). He'll ask you to catch 5 items, rewarding you with a Tackle Box upon completion.
To fish, you'll need a fishing rod and bait. Purchase a Wood Fishing Rod and Worms from Simon. It's recommended to buy at least 5 worms, but more is better. Crucially, you don't equip the bait; simply keep the Worms in your inventory. A worm is consumed with each successful catch. Having at least 5 worms seems essential for catching anything.
How to Fish:
- Select your Wood Fishing Rod (placing it in your hotbar is convenient).
- Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (near Simon's pier works well).
- Watch the bobber. When it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.
Important Note: Fishing isn't guaranteed. You might catch nothing, or you might catch junk. However, Simon counts junk as a successful catch. You need five catches total to complete the quest.
Once you've caught 5 items, return to Simon to complete the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Store your remaining worms in the box to free up inventory space.
