Shift Up, the developer behind the critically acclaimed action role-playing game Stellar Blade, has reported a record-breaking financial year. According to their 2024 financial report, Shift Up achieved a revenue of $151.4 million, marking an impressive 30.4% increase from the previous year. A significant portion of this success, $43.2 million, came from royalties generated by Stellar Blade alone.
The momentum for Stellar Blade shows no signs of slowing down. Shift Up confidently predicts that the upcoming PC version of the game will surpass the sales of the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the thriving Asian game market. This optimism is further buoyed by the game's initial success, which saw it sell over a million copies and receive a 7/10 rating from IGN. Despite some critiques regarding its characters, story, and RPG mechanics, Stellar Blade has been praised for its engaging action gameplay.
In addition to the PC release, Shift Up is gearing up to unveil their next project, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. This new game was announced shortly after Stellar Blade's PlayStation 5 launch in 2024, and while it isn't a sequel to the popular title, Shift Up has hinted at the possibility of expanding the Stellar Blade franchise in the future.
Stellar Blade invites players to step into the shoes of Eve, who embarks on a thrilling mission to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. The game's fast-paced combat has been a highlight, earning it a dedicated fanbase eager for more content and potential sequels.
