My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket ebbs and flows, much like the tides. I dive deep into the game whenever a new set is released, driven by the thrill of earning Emblems for achieving around 40 wins. Once that goal is met, my engagement shifts to a more casual routine: logging in daily to open packs, enjoying a quick Wonder Pick, and then setting the game aside until the next day. This pattern will kick into high gear once again with the arrival of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, set to launch on March 27th.
Shining Revelry is poised to enrich the Pokemon TCG Pocket universe with 110 new cards. This set will feature an enticing blend of new Ex Pokemon, Trainer cards, and the stunning art cards that fans have grown to adore. The highlight, hinted at by the expansion's name, is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon. For those new to the concept, Shiny Pokemon are unique, color-variant versions of the beloved creatures. Imagine a yellow Lucario instead of the usual blue, or a Pachirisu adorned with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer for Shining Revelry, which you can view below, offers a tantalizing preview of what's in store. A standout is the new Shiny Charizard Ex, boasting 180 HP and a powerful attack named Steam Artillery that deals 150 damage. However, it requires a hefty five energy to unleash. Thankfully, its other move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy cards in a single turn, setting up for a devastating follow-up.
Another exciting addition is the Lucario Ex, stepping up from its supporting role in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion. With 150 HP, it may not be the most durable, but its Aura Sphere attack packs a punch, dealing 100 damage for three Fighting Energy and also hitting one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon for 30.
The trailer also showcases other cards that, while not game-changers, are visually captivating. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are on their way, each looking splendid. Additionally, a beautifully designed Tatsugiri art rare is a must-have for my digital collection.
