The newest trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps offers a clearer view into a fresh Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reality and the pivotal role Julia Garner's Silver Surfer will play.
This two-and-a-half-minute preview delves deeper into how Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), the Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) have shaped their world into a gleaming utopia. Here, Marvel's First Family is revered as a (steadily expanding) team of heroes who don't just protect the world but also serve as role models for all. Yet, their abilities will face the ultimate challenge when Garner's Silver Surfer descends from the heavens, delivering a dire warning about an approaching menace: Galactus.
Today's trailer delivers significantly more action than previous previews. We see Ben Grimm smashing through structures as we finally get a proper glimpse of Reed Richards' elastic powers in motion. These are modern interpretations of the Fantastic Four's iconic, decades-old abilities, and we'll witness how the team synergizes when the film releases this July.
The true scene-stealer of this trailer, however, is Garner's Silver Surfer. While she speaks only a few words, declaring this alternate Earth is now "marked for death," this iteration of the Surfer appears immensely powerful, effortlessly deflecting the Human Torch and racing through fiery blasts. Unfortunately, Galactus's full, modernized MCU design remains largely hidden, though we do see a brief shot of the colossal being striding through a city upon his arrival.
