Navigating STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl involves crucial decisions impacting gameplay. The mission preceding "Just Like the Good Old Days" varies based on choices made during "Wishful Thinking." This main mission unlocks after completing either "To the Last Drop of Blood" or "Law and Order," both concluding with an escape from the SIRCAA.
Talk to Professor Lodochka at Wild Island
Proceed to the Wild Island mission marker to locate Professor Lodochka at Quite's Camp. Upon arrival, prioritize eliminating nearby mercenaries, conveniently marked on your map. These enemies won't be ambushing you from hidden locations.
Equip yourself well, as further encounters await. After clearing the mercenaries, a single marker will direct you to Lodochka. An optional objective, "Activate the Ventilation System," will then become available.
Activate the Ventilation System
Consult your map for the marked fuse location. After retrieving it, another marker will appear to the north, leading to the engineering rooms. Be prepared for an invisible enemy within.
Enter the shelter, navigate the passages to the engine room, and use the fuse to restore power to the ventilation system. This optional objective, while not providing unique rewards, simplifies the mission's later stages.
Find the Signal Source
Consider upgrading your weaponry before proceeding. At the marked location near the water, you'll find a cave entrance. Traverse the caverns westward, descending and navigating obstacles. A broken pipe provides access to higher cave levels.
Locate the large cone-shaped spire and the emitter at the marked point beside it. An invisible enemy will likely ambush you on your exit. Finally, return to Professor Lodochka to complete the mission and unlock "Hornet's Nest."
