Star Wars: Hunters is set to shut down even before reaching its first anniversary, though it will celebrate that milestone before its final curtain call. But the question remains: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey after just nine months since its launch. Players have been given additional time to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.
Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is set to release a final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce Tuya, the last new Support Hunter, available for free. Additionally, in-game purchases will be disabled on the same day to ensure players can't spend any more real money.
The Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and the events from the season will be rerun, giving players one last chance to enjoy them. If you have unspent Crystals, now's the time to use them up, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
The shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters may not come as a surprise to many. From its initial announcement in 2020, the game faced numerous delays and only conducted beta tests in the SEA and ANZAC regions. A delayed launch, the absence of major console support, and a tepid reception from the gaming community all contributed to its demise.
Even the game's design choices seemed to miss the mark. Despite the rich tapestry of iconic characters in the Star Wars universe, the developers opted for generic original characters rather than leveraging the galaxy's legends, potentially alienating fans who were eager to see their favorite heroes and villains in action.
If you've uninstalled Star Wars: Hunters but wish to give it one last go before it shuts down, the game is still available for download on the Google Play Store until the servers go offline on October 1st, 2025.
