Saber Interactive has firmly reassured fans that all its previously announced projects are still actively in development, despite the lack of updates on high-profile titles like the eagerly awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. In a recent tweet, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, emphasized the studio's commitment to its diverse portfolio of games across various genres. "Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits stated. "We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share."
Willits' statement comes on the heels of the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, which has added to the excitement surrounding Saber's projects. The most notable project mentioned is the KOTOR remake, which has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. This long-awaited game has seen multiple changes in development teams, with periods of apparent inactivity followed by restarts. Despite this, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in April 2024 that the game was still being actively developed after Saber split from Embracer Group. "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch stated at the time. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."
Willits' recent comments echo Karch's sentiments, reaffirming that the KOTOR remake remains a priority. However, no new footage or updates have been shared since the initial announcement video, leaving fans eager for more information.
In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive has several other titles in the pipeline. Games like John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for release in 2025, though specific dates have yet to be announced. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled project based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. With the recent addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's lineup continues to expand.
