Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Star Wars: Outlaws will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, though it won't be a launch title for the new handheld. Set to release on September 4, the game will arrive a few months after the Nintendo Switch 2 hits the market on June 5.
For those who might have missed Star Wars: Outlaws on PS5, Xbox, and PC, the game is set in the timeline between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal marked for death by a cartel. Our review scored it a 7, describing it as "a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration, but it's hindered by simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch."
While Ubisoft didn't share much more about the game's specifics, they did confirm its availability on the Nintendo Switch 2 and its release date. This news is especially pertinent for American and Canadian gamers currently in pre-order limbo as Nintendo navigates the impact of new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration. Any updates on the Switch 2 Games List are a welcome distraction during this period.
The announcement came during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled A Pirate’s Fortune. In this add-on, Kay Vess teams up with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune is slated for release on May 15, adding more excitement to the game's universe.
