Tomnoki Studio's Sphere Defense is a fresh take on the tower defense genre, drawing clear inspiration from the beloved geoDefense. The developer, a longtime fan of the original, has recreated that same elegantly simple yet challenging gameplay experience for a new generation.
The Story
The Earth, or "The Sphere," faces imminent destruction at the hands of alien invaders. Humanity has retreated underground, frantically developing new technology to fight back. After years of setbacks, they've finally amassed the firepower for a counteroffensive, and you're at the helm, leading the charge to save the planet.
Gameplay
Sphere Defense delivers the core tower defense loop: strategically deploy units, each with unique strengths, to repel waves of enemies. Successful defenses earn you resources to expand and upgrade your arsenal. The challenge intensifies with increasing difficulty levels.
The game offers three difficulty settings: easy, normal, and hard, each with 10 stages. Expect each stage to last between 5 and 15 minutes of intense strategic combat. See it in action:
Diverse Turrets for Strategic Combat
Sphere Defense features seven distinct unit types, offering a wealth of strategic combinations. Attack units include the Standard Attack Turret (single-target), Area Attack Turret (area-of-effect), and Piercing Attack Turret (for long enemy lines).
Support units like the Cooling Turret and Incendiary Turret enhance your attack units' effectiveness. Specialized support-attack units, such as the Fixed-Point Attack Unit (precise missile strikes) and Linear Attack Unit (satellite laser fire), add further strategic depth.
