Warframe's TennoCon 2024: A Blast from the Past with Warframe: 1999!
This year's TennoCon delivered some truly electrifying news, headlined by the upcoming Warframe: 1999 update. Get ready for a wild ride through a retro-futuristic 1999, brimming with Y2K-era style and a deadly Techrot virus threat.
The adventure begins with a prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," launching in August 2024. Reuniting players with a beloved Warframe character, this quest sets the stage for the main 1999 storyline, introducing Sevatgoth Prime and their unique weapons. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" is a prerequisite for experiencing Warframe: 1999, slated for release in Winter 2024.
Warframe: 1999 plunges players into the alternate-reality city of Höllvania, a vibrant 90s metropolis ravaged by Techrot. Navigate this chaotic landscape on the new Atomicyles, agile vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even explosive maneuvers. Leading the charge is the Hex team, six heroes sporting Protoframes – Warframes revealing their human forms.
Meet Arthur (Excalibur), Aoi (Mag), Quincy (the new CYTE-09), and more, voiced by a star-studded cast including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Interact with the Hex through instant messaging – a truly authentic 1999 experience!
Prepare for a showdown with On-lyne, a 90s boy band infected by Technocyte Coda and transformed into formidable foes. Their infectious music, including the hit single "Party of Your Lifetime," is available now on major streaming services.
Fashion is key in Warframe: 1999. The update features dual fashion frame loadouts and introduces Gemini Skins, allowing you to bring Protoframes like Arthur and Aoi into the Origin System. These skins unlock fully voiced dialogue for battles and interactions with your operator.
Beyond the main event, Digital Extremes is collaborating with THE LINE animation studio on a 1999-themed anime short. Plus, new Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (early 2025) are on the way!
