9Best Gaming### Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro

12This stunning monitor delivers on all fronts thanks to its wealth of features and OLED panelSee it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsSize31.5” Pixel TypeOLEDResolution3,840 x 2,160Max Refresh Rate240HzVRRYesHDR10YesPROSOutstanding 4K resolutionExcellent performanceCONSCalibration needs tweaking initiallyBuilt on Samsung’s QD-OLED technology, the Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro is one of the best gaming monitors I tested this year and an absolute powerhouse of a 4K monitor. At a more affordable price compared to the Alienware and Asus 4K OLED offerings, it's a compelling choice. With its glossy coating, you'll feel fully immersed when pairing this monitor with your gaming PC. It comes equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4 connection, as well as USB-C.

Brightness is often a concern with gaming monitors, but not with this one. Boasting 1,000 nits of brightness, it's not only bright and thin but also sports a very 'gamer' aesthetic.

Not all gaming PCs can handle a 4K monitor at 240Hz. However, don't let that deter you. The Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro is future-proof, meaning that while you may spend more upfront, this monitor will serve you well for years to come.

Even if you don't use it for gaming, the Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro's stunning OLED panel supports up to 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, providing accurate color representation for creative professionals. Whether you're gaming, designing, or watching a movie, the colors will pop in a way you've never seen before.

There’s an array of HDR modes to choose from, which can be overwhelming, but once properly configured, the monitor looks excellent. Gigabyte also includes useful features like picture-in-picture and an automatic black equalizer for fine-tuning. If you can invest a bit over $1,000, the Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro should be your top choice for one of the best OLED monitors available.

9Best Ultrawide### Dell Alienware AW3423DW

10The Alienware AW3423DW combines the beauty of OLED with an ultrawide display, showing more of your game while enhancing its visual appeal.See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsSize34”Pixel TypeQD-OLEDResolution3,440 x 1,440Max Refresh Rate175HzVRRYesHDR10YesPROSUltrawide displayDeep blacksCONSLack of HDMI 2.1Incorporating Quantum Dot technology within its OLED panel, the Alienware AW3423DW stands out as one of the best ultrawide monitors available. Quantum Dots enhance the already impressive contrast and dynamic range, providing even better colors and brightness. The blacks are truly deep, retaining detail in shadowy scenes, while the display can reach up to 1000-nit peak brightness in HDR. However, at only 250-nit peak brightness in SDR, it may appear dim in brightly lit rooms.

Color performance is equally impressive, covering 99.3% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum, with sRGB reaching its peak in our tests. The unit we tested came well-calibrated, ensuring stunning, true-to-life colors right out of the box. This makes the Alienware AW3423DW a fantastic choice not only for gaming but also for creatives.

The ultrawide format offers extra screen real estate, though the resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 may seem unusual. This places the 34-inch display between 1440p and 4K, providing sharp details and high-quality visuals. The 1800R curvature enhances immersion without causing distortion.

With a refresh rate of 175Hz, the Alienware AW3423DW caters to gamers with powerful GPUs. Even if you can't maintain 175 fps consistently, the monitor supports G-Sync Ultimate to prevent screen tearing. The 0.1 ms GtG response time is also exceptionally fast, making it ideal for competitive esports.

The only notable downside is the I/O panel. While the Alienware AW3423DW offers numerous ports including multiple USBs, HDMIs, and a DisplayPort, it only supports HDMI 2.0, limiting console gaming to 60Hz instead of the 120Hz that current-gen consoles can achieve. Despite this, it remains a top-notch Alienware gaming monitor worth considering.

  1. Samsung Odyssey OLED G93SC

Best Super Ultrawide OLED Monitor

With a stunning 32:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440, this monitor provides crisp visuals and vibrant colors thanks to its Samsung QD-OLED technology. This tech combines the benefits of OLED with Quantum Dot technology found in top TVs, reducing the risk of image burn-in while delivering deeper colors. Additionally, the monitor's 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time make it an ideal choice for gamers across all genres, provided they can afford its premium price.

A unique feature allows you to connect two display cables, effectively turning the monitor into two 1440p displays. This is perfect for games that don't support wide aspect ratios or for multitasking with applications like Discord. When used as a single display, it offers one of the most immersive gaming experiences of the year.

Its sleek design and glossy panel enhance contrast, making it a standout centerpiece for any gaming setup. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 G93SC is the best large OLED monitor on the market, offering unparalleled gaming and viewing experiences. For a deeper understanding of its capabilities, you can refer to our hands-on review of an older model of the Odyssey G9, which explains our recommendation for the Samsung Odyssey brand.

  1. LG ‎UltraGear 27GS95QE

Best 1440p### LG ‎UltraGear 27GS95QE

5If you're seeking a reliable 1440p OLED gaming monitor, this LG display checks all the right boxes without breaking the bank.See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsSize27"Pixel TypeWOLEDResolution2,560 x 1,440Max Refresh Rate240HzVRRYesHDR10YesPROSExcellent visuals240Hz refresh rateCONSGlare in well-lit spacesBalancing between 1080p and 4K, the LG ‎UltraGear 27GS95QE is the top OLED choice for 1440p monitors. As an upgrade from the LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B, it boasts a brighter display and enhanced performance. The 1000-nit peak brightness in HDR is a significant improvement over the 800-nit display of its predecessor, ensuring excellent visibility in various lighting conditions. However, glare may be an issue in brightly lit environments.

As an OLED monitor, it offers a near-infinite contrast ratio, providing rich, deep blacks in even the darkest scenes without any blooming. Colors are impressive, with DCI-P3 98.5% coverage and an accurate sRGB mode, though the display limits other picture settings in sRGB mode. This monitor is ideal for both gamers, who will appreciate its vibrant scenes, and content creators, thanks to HDR10 compatibility.

In terms of gaming performance, the UltraGear monitor maintains a swift 240Hz refresh rate, which is sufficient for the majority of players. Most GPUs struggle to reach 240Hz at 1440p, so this isn't a concern. The action remains smooth, and FreeSync Premium Pro support along with G-Sync compatibility ensures minimal tearing. The fast response time and low input lag make the LG ‎UltraGear 27GS95QE an outstanding gaming monitor.

Beyond its stunning visuals and fast performance, this monitor offers ample connectivity options. Two HDMI 2.1 inputs enable 120Hz gameplay with the PS5 and Xbox Series X, complete with VRR support.

  1. Asus ZenScreen MQ16AH

Best Portable OLED Monitor

Best Portable### Asus ZenScreen MQ16AH

1The ASUS ZenScreen MQ16AH is a portable OLED monitor that you can easily carry in your backpack. It's perfect for those who desire a high-quality display while on the move.See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsSize15.6”Pixel TypeOLEDResolution1,920 x 1,080Max Refresh Rate60HzVRRYesHDR10YesPROSLight and portableLots of portsCONSGlossy panelIf you're always on the move but can't do without a second screen, the Asus ZenScreen MQ16AH is an excellent companion. Although I didn't review this model personally, I was impressed when I first saw it in action. The 15.6-inch Full HD OLED panel delivers 400 nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, creating an ideal platform for HDR content. With a rapid 1ms response time, everything from web browsing to video streaming feels smooth and seamless.

The OLED panel distinguishes this monitor, with colors that seem to leap off the screen. While its peak brightness may not match larger gaming monitors, its infinite contrast still ensures excellent dynamic range. For gaming, you'll be limited to 60Hz, but the quality of the picture remains exceptional.

The monitor features a proximity sensor that switches to power-saving mode when you move away, helping to save battery and prevent burn-in. The included case allows for both horizontal and vertical positioning, offering versatility in usage. Connectivity is robust, with a headphone jack, two USB-C/DisplayPort ports, an additional USB-C port for power, and a mini-HDMI port.

This is one of my favorite portable monitors overall, providing OLED sharpness in a compact form.

6. Xiaomi G Pro 27i Mini-LED Gaming Monitor

Priced under $300, this monitor delivers near-OLED blacks using an IPS panel. It boasts a peak HDR brightness of around 1,000 nits for full-screen whites and well over 1,000 nits for highlights, making it ideal for HDR gaming. Additionally, it uses quantum dots for enhanced color coverage, catering to creators as well.

The secret behind its performance is a mini-LED backlight with 1,152 local dimming zones, about twice as many as its nearest competitor. This allows it to rival gaming monitors that cost much more. While blooming is present, it's less noticeable than in other monitors at this price point, and the blacks are deep and rich, with vibrant highlights and colors that closely mimic OLED quality without the usual risks.

To achieve its low price, the monitor sacrifices some features. There's no built-in USB hub or KVM, and gaming features within its OSD are limited. For those needing the highest color accuracy, a calibration cycle with a colorimeter is recommended. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Xiaomi G Pro 27i remains a fantastic value.

How To Pick the Best OLED Monitor

When choosing the perfect OLED monitor, consider the size that suits your needs. OLED monitors range from compact 24-inch models to expansive 55-inch displays. Assess your desk space and intended use; graphic designers and video editors might prefer larger screens with higher resolutions like 4K for detailed work, while gamers may prioritize refresh rates and response times over size.

Also, think about the features and connectivity you need. Multiple HDMI ports can be useful for connecting various devices, and USB-C ports offer faster data transfer and charging capabilities. Some OLED monitors come with built-in speakers, adjustable stands, and HDR support for richer colors and better contrast. Make a list of essential features and prioritize accordingly.

OLED monitors can be pricier than their LCD counterparts, but their superior picture quality and performance often justify the investment. Set a realistic budget and research to find the best value for your money.

OLED Monitor FAQ

Is OLED or Mini-LED better?

Both OLED and Mini-LED monitors have their advantages and disadvantages. OLED monitors are renowned for their exceptional contrast and color accuracy, though they can suffer from reduced brightness and the risk of burn-in, which is less of an issue in modern models. Mini-LED monitors, on the other hand, utilize IPS or VA panels with ultra-bright LEDs, offering better contrast and brightness than traditional displays without the risk of burn-in. However, they may exhibit "blooming," where light objects on dark backgrounds appear to glow. The choice depends on your priorities and risk tolerance for a significant purchase.

Is OLED burn-in still an issue?

While OLED displays are susceptible to burn-in, it's less of a problem in modern monitors thanks to various protective measures like pixel shifting and intelligent screen dimming. Often, before permanent burn-in occurs, you'll notice temporary image retention that disappears after a few minutes.

Is 4K worth it over 1440p?

4K monitors provide clearer and crisper images due to their higher pixel count compared to 1440p monitors. However, higher resolutions demand more from your computer. To fully utilize a 4K OLED monitor, you'll need a powerful graphics card like an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super.

When can you find discounts on OLED monitors?

Retailers often discount older OLED monitors when new models are released. Key sales events like Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday are prime times to buy gaming monitors at a discount, but also keep an eye out during Back to School season and winter holidays.
