Another week brings more excitement and shifts in the Pokémon single card market as trainers eagerly await the release of Destined Rivals. Fortunately, the preorders for Black Bolt and White Flare at the Pokémon Center managed to dodge a bot takeover this time around.
The most significant price drop this week was seen in Greninja ex 214/167, which plummeted by nearly half since the start of the year. We're also witnessing notable price reductions in cards from the Obsidian Flames and the elusive 151 expansions. On the flip side, Dragonite V from Evolving Skies has nearly doubled in value since January, and its stunning artwork has long suggested it was undervalued.
Charizard V Alt Art remains a standout, featuring a dynamic battle against Venusaur and steadily increasing in value. Meanwhile, Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art is experiencing a soaring surge, gaining an additional $100 in value since the beginning of the year. Let's dive into the biggest climbers and crashers in the Pokémon TCG market this week.
Pokémon Card Crashes
IGN Photo Composite / The Pokémon CompanyWhile we're seeing an upward trend in Sword and Shield era cards, those from the Scarlet and Violet series are returning to more grounded prices.
Alakazam ex SIR from the 151 set is a stunning card that's now 34% cheaper than at the start of March. There's no reason not to add Uri Gellar's Grandad to your collection this year.
Bulbasaur was my first starter Pokémon back in Pokémon Blue, so Bulbasaur IR holds a special place in my heart. This card has seen a dramatic 52% drop since mid-March, making it an excellent opportunity to acquire this beautiful card.
In the Obsidian Flames set, Ninetales IR has always been one of the standout cards. With a 40% price reduction since February, now at a reasonable $18.17, it's the perfect time to add this card to your collection.

The biggest crasher this month is Greninja ex SIR, once poised to be the priciest Scarlet and Violet card. However, with the arrival of Prismatic Evolutions, the fear of missing out (FOMO) intensified. Despite its fall, it's still a top-tier card holding steady at $275, a far cry from its $411.62 price tag at the end of February.
Pokémon Card Climbers
IGN Photo Composite / The Pokémon CompanyTurning to this week's climbers, Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art remains a crown jewel of the Sword and Shield era. Already a $500+ card, it's now at $649.99 and shows no signs of slowing down. This card could potentially reach $1,000 in a few years, so it's worth considering if you can afford it.
For Kanto enthusiasts, Charizard V Alt Art excels with its dynamic depiction of a battle against Venusaur. Its unique angle gives it a sense of movement, distinguishing it from the static poses of many other cards (WotC era, I'm looking at you). It's gained an extra $40 since January and could easily surpass $200 before the year ends.

This card's artwork captures its cuter side, which is why it's nearly doubled in value since mid-January. Now at $225, it's a card to watch before its value soars even higher.
