Ubisoft Details Character Customization and Progression in Assassin's Creed: Shadows

Ubisoft has unveiled new gameplay details for Assassin's Creed: Shadows, highlighting the unique equipment and progression systems for playable characters Yasuke and Naoe. A significant improvement to the iconic Hidden Blade is also promised.

Each character boasts a distinct skill tree reflecting their combat style: Yasuke, specializing in powerful samurai techniques, and Naoe, mastering the art of shinobi stealth. Skill points earned through gameplay unlock new weapon abilities and refine fighting styles. Players earn mastery points by completing open-world objectives and defeating challenging foes, such as Daisyo samurai.

Balanced character progression is ensured, preventing either Yasuke or Naoe from falling behind. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires specific actions, such as tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Further upgrades are tied to the "Knowledge" system, advanced by studying ancient manuscripts or praying at sacred shrines. Reaching the sixth Knowledge rank unlocks a new skill tree.

The equipment system features five tiers of quality: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be upgraded by a blacksmith and visually customized. Special armor and weapon perks offer significant gameplay alterations.

The Hidden Blade returns, retaining its ability to instantly eliminate enemies with a single, swift strike. Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
