How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
Your adventure begins as a Soul Spirit, but to transform into a Shinigami, you need to accept the initial quest from the NPC named Hurt Shinigami. She's calling for help, and by choosing to become a Shinigami, you commit to this path, leaving the Hollow route behind—unless you later become a Visored. If you're keen on playing as a Hollow, our separate guide on Hollow progression is there for you.

During the selection phase between Shinigami and Hollow, timing is crucial. To become a Hollow, simply break your chain. However, if you choose to be a Shinigami, the chain will gradually break on its own, with a section disappearing every two minutes. If it breaks completely, you'll turn into a Hollow. In such a case, our guide on resurrection moves will help you navigate your Hollow endgame.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your first task as a Shinigami is to purify 6 Lost Souls, aligning with the duty of Shinigamis to maintain the balance between life and death. Next, pick up a quest from an NPC near Hurt Shinigami to deliver a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.

Use these initial quests to familiarize yourself with your powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urahara shop, and if budget allows, use the bus stop for $200 as a teleport/fast travel option due to the game's large map. Alternatively, you can buy infinite fast travel for 149 Robux in the Robux Shop.

Quests continue, marked by a red crosshair. You'll face various challenges, from defeating a single Hollow to taking down 5 Corrupted Shinigamis. These quests include repeatable, progression, and path-specific tasks like Vizard and Airwalk, leading you to level 15.

Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
To maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu, strategic investment of skill points is crucial. The Reiatsu Skill Tree offers powerful Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami. Here's a breakdown of the Kido and Reiatsu Nodes:
- Kido Nodes boost the damage dealt by Kido skills.
- Reiatsu Nodes increase your maximum Reiatsu output.
Below are some Kido abilities and their effects:
- Caja Negacion: A lightning beam from your finger, spreading electricity when combined with Electric.
- Shakkaho: A red energy ball that explodes on impact. With Ragdoll, it can knock back enemies, and with Fire, it sets them ablaze.
- Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies towards you.
- Prison of Light: Six light rods immobilize agile foes.
- Thunder Sear: A slow-moving lightning ball that damages and crowds controls nearby enemies.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
To obtain Shikai, you must reach level 15 and visit Urihiro to take the Shikai Training quest. Defeat Urahara Kisuke to earn 1,700 exp and unlock Shikai powers.

Warning: If you're not fully optimized, defeating Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging. Consider grinding to level 25 or higher before attempting this.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, your weapon gains a random powerful ability. If you're unhappy with it, you can re-roll at Urahara Shop for cash. Shikai is activated with a full Rage Bar by pressing Y (default keybind), ending when your Reiatsu is depleted or you release the key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level increases with Mastery Points earned by using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce Rage consumption and come with different aura effects and character appearances:
- Mastery Level 1 (1-149 Points): Transparent Aura.
- Mastery Level 2 (150-299 Points): Brighter aura with particles.
- Mastery Level 3 (300-499 Points): Lightning boost.
- Mastery Level 4 (500+ Points): Zone of flying stones.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
Once committed to the Shinigami path, you can't revert to Hollow—unless you become a Visored. At level 50, you can unlock the Vizard fighting style at the Vizard’s Warehouse. To fully become a Visored, you'll need Hogyoku, obtained by defeating the King of Hueco Mundo with a mere 1% drop rate. This is just the beginning of your Visored journey.
