For newcomers, Uma Musume Pretty Derby is part of a larger multimedia franchise encompassing anime, manga, and more. Its popularity stems largely from the success of the anime series. The game, initially launched in Japan and Asia in February 2021 for Android and iOS, features horse girls – racehorses reincarnated as girls – competing in the "Twinkle Series" to become top idols.
While the game hasn't had a global release until now, characters like Gold Ship have already appeared in globally released games such as Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, hinting at future crossovers once the English version launches.
