Hyper Light Breaker offers players a diverse array of characters, known as Breakers, each with unique playstyles, to tackle the challenge of defeating the Abyss King. Understanding how to unlock and utilize these characters can greatly enhance your gameplay experience.
Unlocking new characters in Hyper Light Breaker is straightforward but not immediately obvious. This guide will walk you through the process of acquiring new Breakers and provide an overview of all the characters available in the early access version of the game. As more characters become available, we will update this guide to reflect the latest information.
How to Get New Characters in Hyper Light Breaker
To unlock new characters, you'll need Abyss Stones, which are obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). Before you can challenge these bosses, you must collect Prisms, which serve as keys to their arenas. You can find Prisms by following the golden diamond icon on the map.
After defeating a Crown, return to the teleporter at the Cursed Outpost. Here, you can select the Breaker you wish to unlock and spend your Abyss Stones to add them to your roster. Currently, only two characters are unlockable in the early access version, requiring players to collect Abyss Stones. The unlocking method for future characters remains to be seen.
All Characters in Hyper Light Breaker
Each character in Hyper Light Breaker comes equipped with a SyCom, a key item that defines their base stats and core perks, shaping their unique playstyles. Here's a detailed look at each character and their distinctive abilities.
Vermillion
Vermillion is your starting character, equipped with the Gunslinger SyCom, which offers a balanced stat package geared towards ranged combat. His Rail shots have a unique feature where a critical hit guarantees the next shot will also be a critical hit.
For those who prefer melee combat, Vermillion can unlock the Tank SyCom, which enhances his armor after perfect parries and boasts better defensive and melee stats than Gunslinger, making it a safer choice overall.
Lapis
Lapis is another Rail-focused Breaker, starting with the Lightweaver SyCom, which boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery. Her standout feature is the Warrior SyCom, which increases her core stats with each upgrade she receives.
With either SyCom, Lapis is formidable, but Warrior transforms her into a powerhouse as her upgrades accumulate, outstripping other Breakers in terms of sheer statistical advantage.
Goro
Goro specializes in ranged combat, equipped initially with the Astrologer SyCom, which accelerates the charging of his Blade skills while he's shooting. The unlockable Sniper SyCom further enhances his critical hit rate.
As a ranged glass cannon, Goro's damage output is higher than that of Vermillion and Lapis, though he lacks defensive options. Mastering Goro requires skill and precision, but when played correctly, he can be exceptionally effective on the battlefield.
