Dead Sails Kraken Boss Guide
Your adventure kicks off in the heart of town, right across from the Gun Store and Hospital, and in front of the Trading Hut. Start by ditching any unnecessary loot and gearing up. I recommend snagging a Rifle for $75; it packs enough punch to fend off most enemies for a while. Don't forget to purchase coal to fuel your boat's old-school engine.
The next town is a whopping 10,000 meters away, so fire up your boat and set sail. You can stop to dispatch and loot Zombies and Drowned, but it's not always worth it due to sparse valuables in the surrounding houses. To get the boat moving again, just add more coal. Don't let the worm on the right side spook you. Hold onto your loot until the second safe zone to sell, but watch out for Big Foot and Zombie mobs along the river.
After reaching the second safe zone/town, you'll encounter burning buildings teeming with mobs. Clear them out with friends for better efficiency, but solo play might not be worth the time due to scattered spawn points. At around 12,000 meters, you'll find a castle-like house packed with Drowned and valuable loot like Shotgun ammo. Use it wisely.
Dead Sails Kraken Tips and Tricks
By now, you're familiar with the core gameplay loop: kill, loot, repeat and hope for enemy defeat. To master the game, focus on efficiency, treating your boat as your primary inventory. Empty your bag into it to save time and space.
A useful strategy is stacking Zombies near the incinerator for efficient loot management. If you're short on fuel, simply toss a few Zombies into the incinerator to keep going.
Be cautious in Sheriff's offices, which often house more mobs but also offer valuable weapons and ammo. I managed to sustain my shotgun's ammo supply by having a friend clear the ground floor during our town sweeps.
Conserve your ammo, weapons, fuel, and medkits for the fortress at around 25,000 meters. It's under construction, making it a prime spot for ambushes. I recommend tackling it with at least three people, ideally a five-stack. Be strategic about picking up loot.
Avoid engaging Big Feet after 30,000 meters; they're tough, require a lot of ammo, and hit hard. Don't linger too long at stops; loot isn't everything.
The town beyond 50,000 meters is a prime farming spot with numerous Drowned and Zombies. It's an efficient way to gather corpses for fuel, so coordinate with your team to prepare the bodies for loading quickly.
How to Defeat the Kraken Boss in Dead Sails Kraken
Before facing the Kraken, sell everything at the final safe zone and stock up on ammo, weapons, and medkits. Don't skimp on taking out Zombies and Drowned. Ensure you have at least 8-10 corpses for fuel during this final leg. At around 100,000 meters, you'll hit open waters, signaling the imminent arrival of the Kraken as the skies darken.
When the Kraken emerges, everyone must target a tentacle. The boss has substantial health, and each tentacle can attack and cause damage if not countered effectively. With five players, form a pentagram-like formation and focus on your assigned tentacle.
Watch out for the water splash attack, which deals area-of-effect damage and is signaled by the Kraken winding back its tentacle, leaving a water trail. Use medkits liberally as some damage is unavoidable.
Be wary of the Roar AoE, which causes minor damage and can't be blocked. It appears to slightly boost the boss's damage and is indicated by white concentric circles emanating from the tentacle.
