Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse arsenal of weapons, essential for crafting your perfect build. While everyone begins with basic loadouts, the game rewards exploration and perseverance, allowing you to discover equipment tailored to your preferred playstyle.
The game blends elements of roguelikes and extraction games, introducing unique mechanics for acquiring new weapons. Here's a detailed guide on how to expand your weapon collection in Hyper Light Breaker.
Where to Get New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker
The primary method to acquire new gear is by exploring Overgrowths. During your runs, you'll naturally stumble upon new items, but if you're specifically hunting for weapons, target the sword or pistol icons on the map. These icons mark the locations of Blades and Rails, respectively.
Blades, which are melee weapons, offer varied movesets and special abilities, adding depth to close combat. Rails, on the other hand, are ranged weapons with distinct functions, enhancing your long-distance engagements. Both weapon types come in different rarities, with gold being the rarest and boasting superior stats, following the tradition of loot-based games.
When you find a weapon in the Overgrowth, you have the option to send it to your personal stash using the Cache button, rather than equipping it immediately. This allows you to customize your loadout before embarking on your next run.
How to Get New Starting Weapons
In addition to collecting weapons during your runs, you can purchase new starting gear from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. To unlock the Rails merchant, you'll need to gather sufficient materials to repair their shop.
Keep in mind that merchants have a limited stock of items, but their inventory refreshes over time. If you don't find anything appealing at first, revisit them later to see what new options they have in store.
How to Upgrade Weapons
Enhancing your weapons is possible through upgrades at the merchants in the Outpost. First, you must unlock the Upgrade feature by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This involves collecting Golden Rations, a scarce resource found either by exploring the world or resetting cycles. Use these rations judiciously, as they are hard to come by.
Be aware that if you die, all equipped gear will lose one pip's worth of durability, shown by the bar under their icons. Continuous deaths will eventually lead to the gear breaking, so manage your equipment carefully.
