After a stellar Xbox Developer Direct to kick off 2025, Microsoft's future looks promising, thanks to its impressive lineup of first-party studios. With Microsoft's recent acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the Xbox ecosystem boasts an extensive library of legendary game series. Whether reminiscing about the glory days of the Xbox 360 or eagerly anticipating Xbox titles coming to other platforms like PlayStation, there's no shortage of excitement. Here's a personal tier list that reflects my enjoyment over the years and excitement for the future:
Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List
S Tier:
- Doom: The recent entries rank among my favorite first-person shooters. The upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages promises to continue id Software's stellar track record.
- Forza Horizon: Outside of classics like Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, the Forza Horizon series delivers some of the best racing experiences I've ever had.
A Tier:
- Halo: While Halo 2 and Halo 3 stand out as exceptional campaign shooters, recent entries have been less consistent, preventing it from reaching the S tier.
- Fallout: I'm more of a Fallout enthusiast than an Elder Scrolls fan. The allure of power armor trumps dragons for me.
This tier list covers a range of series that have made significant impacts, both historically and in the current gaming landscape. If you disagree with my rankings—perhaps you believe Gears of War deserves the top spot or have a soft spot for Fuzion Frenzy—feel free to create your own tier list and compare it with the IGN community.
