Atelier Resleriana's End: A Year-Long Journey Concludes

Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just one year after its global launch. The game's servers will shut down on March 28th, with in-app purchases ceasing on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the final closure, allowing players to enjoy the remaining time.

This decision stems from the developers' inability to maintain their initially set quality standards. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, the developers concluded that continued operation was unsustainable. While players can still use their existing Lodestar Gems, purchasing additional gems is no longer possible.

The game's struggles weren't unexpected, given the highly competitive gacha market. While Atelier Resleriana showcased some promising concepts, it faced challenges in several key areas.

Criticism frequently targeted the gacha and banner rates, hindering player progression. The alchemy system, a hallmark of the Atelier series, fell short of expectations, failing to deliver the anticipated creative depth. Although the gameplay was functional, it lacked the engagement needed to compete effectively within the genre.

The game's eventual closure, while unfortunate, might have been foreseen. While many players have requested an offline version on Twitter and Reddit, the likelihood of this happening remains low. For those who enjoyed Atelier Resleriana's turn-based RPG elements, the coming months offer a final opportunity to experience the game.
