F-Zero Climax Races Onto Switch Online

Nintendo's Switch Online + Expansion Pack is revving up its retro racing lineup! Two classic F-Zero GBA titles, F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-only F-Zero Climax, are speeding onto the service on October 11th, 2024.

This exciting addition brings Nintendo's futuristic racing franchise to a new generation. Originally launched in Japan over three decades ago, F-Zero has consistently impressed with its high-speed gameplay and cutting-edge technology for its time, influencing other racing games like SEGA's Daytona USA. The series is known for its intense races, featuring track obstacles and rival "F-Zero machines," with the iconic Captain Falcon even making appearances in Super Smash Bros.

F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in Japan in 2003 and worldwide in 2004, joins F-Zero Climax, a 2004 Japanese exclusive that has remained region-locked until now. The latter marks the last dedicated F-Zero title before the recent release of F-Zero 99 on the Switch. Game designer Takaya Imamura has previously attributed the series' long hiatus to the overwhelming success of Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise.

The October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack grants subscribers access to both titles, offering Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials to test their skills. Prepare for high-octane racing action! Learn more about Nintendo Switch Online via the link below.
