Atelier Resleriana: Global EOS Announcement for Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator

Another mobile game has reached the end of its journey—Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have officially announced the game’s End of Service (EOS), marking the conclusion of its global run.

It's important to note that only the global version is shutting down. The Japanese version remains active and continues to thrive, with plans to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025. This contrast highlights a significant disparity between the two player bases, especially since the global release occurred as recently as January 2024—barely over a year ago.

Let’s take a closer look at what led to this decision and when players can expect the final curtain call.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana Global EOS?

Mark your calendars—the official shutdown date is set for March 28, 2025. Interestingly, this coincides with the Japanese version entering its 1.5th-anniversary celebrations, adding a layer of irony to the situation.

While Japanese players are progressing through Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be wrapping up with Chapter 21 (Part 1). The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, though existing Lodestar Gems can still be used until the service ends. Additionally, Koei Tecmo has confirmed new content and events leading up to the final day.

Adding to the bittersweet timing, the global version had just celebrated its one-year anniversary on January 25, 2025, making the shutdown announcement even more unexpected for many fans.

Why Is the Game Shutting Down?

The developers issued an official notice stating that after careful evaluation, they were unable to maintain the game at a level that met player expectations. As a result, they made the difficult decision to cease operations.

From early on, signs pointed to a challenging road ahead. Roughly two months post-launch, players began voicing concerns about the gacha mechanics and overall gameplay experience. While the game featured strong character design and story elements, the monetization model and increasing power creep alienated many users.

Ultimately, these factors contributed to declining engagement and retention, sealing the fate of the global version.

If you'd like to give the game a final send-off or see what all the fuss was about, Atelier Resleriana is still available on the Google Play Store. Alternatively, you might want to check out Sky: Children of the Light, which is currently hosting a vibrant Lunar New Year 2025 celebration titled "Days of Fortune."
