Get Ready for an Xbox Android App Launch!
Earlier this year, Xbox president Sarah Bond hinted at a mobile store in development. Now, it appears an Xbox Android app with exciting new features is almost here—potentially as early as next month!
The Inside Scoop
The app is expected to launch in November, allowing Android users to purchase and play Xbox games directly within the app. This news was revealed by Sarah Bond on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the impact of a recent court ruling that will expand options and flexibility on the Google Play Store.
This ruling concludes Google's four-year antitrust battle with Epic Games. The court has mandated Google provide third-party app stores with access to its full app catalog for three years (November 1st, 2024 to November 1st, 2027), unless developers opt out.
Why This Xbox App Matters
While an existing Xbox Android app allows game downloads to consoles and cloud streaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the November release will add the crucial ability to directly purchase games through the app itself.
More details will emerge in November. For further information, check out the CNBC article linked in the original source. Until then, be sure to read our coverage of the Solo Leveling: Arise Autumn Update!
