Castle Doombad triumphantly returns to Android as "Castle Doombad: Free To Slay"! Developed by Grumpyface Studios and published by Yodo1, this tower defense strategy game, originally released in 2014, lets players unleash their inner villain. Grumpyface, known for hits like "Steven Universe: Attack the Light" and "Teeny Titans," initially planned a single remake but opted for a two-pronged approach: "Free To Slay" for mobile and a "Classic" version for PC and Nintendo Switch (releasing later this year). A sequel, "Castle Doombad 2: Muahaha!", is also in development.
"Castle Doombad: Free To Slay" offers a delightfully wicked experience. Construct your evil lair, repel heroic do-gooders, and utilize a vast arsenal of traps and minions. The free-to-play model includes ads and optional in-app purchases, delivering the complete original game with 70 stages, daily challenges, endless modes, 30+ traps, and 100+ collectible items.
A customizable cosmetic system, "spoils," allows players to adorn their Dark Lord and command center with evil artifacts and loot, further enhanced by equippable "Baddie Bonus" perks. A new roguelite mode, "Dr. Lord Evilstein's Roguevenge," adds replayability with randomly generated castle layouts and collectible Nightmares granting unique villainous powers.
