In a PlayStation.Blog post, Naughty Dog Head of Studio Neil Druckmann announced that a physical The Last of Us Complete Collector’s Edition will be released on July 10 for $109.99, with pre-orders now open. This edition comes packed with extras to justify the price, including a Steelbook case, game discs, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics 1 – 4, four lithographic art prints, and a heartfelt thank-you letter from Druckmann.
Druckmann expressed his gratitude in the post: "From our entire studio, thank you so much for your incredible support for The Last of Us and Naughty Dog over the years. This is such an exciting moment for both the franchise and our teams. We are so humbled by your personal stories of what the series has meant to you, have marveled at your incredible Photo Mode shots, and are inspired to keep pushing ourselves forward to create more stories and worlds you’ll love."
The Last of Us series originally debuted on the PS3 in 2013 and has since become a cherished part of the PlayStation lineup. Despite multiple re-releases and remasters, which have sparked both criticism and praise, the journey of Joel and Ellie has continued to captivate players. The adventure moved to PS4 with enhanced graphics in 2014 and was reimagined for PS5 in 2022. The Last of Us Part 2, which continued Ellie’s story, was released in 2020 and remastered in early 2024. Both titles have also made their way to PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 arriving in 2023 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered just last week.
The Last of Us Complete bundles all of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic narratives into a single package, marking yet another re-release. While this move may puzzle some, it aligns perfectly with the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2, set for this Sunday, and the recent greenlighting of Season 3.
