Concord: A Roadmap to Thrilling Post-Launch Content
With Concord's August 23rd launch fast approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled a detailed post-launch roadmap, brimming with exciting updates. This article summarizes the key features and provides gameplay strategies.
No Battle Pass, Maximum Rewards
Concord eschews the traditional battle pass model, prioritizing a rewarding core experience. Leveling up accounts and characters, and completing objectives, unlocks substantial rewards from day one. This focus on inherent gameplay progression sets Concord apart from many hero shooters.
Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)
Concord's first major update, "The Tempest," arrives in October, introducing:
- A new playable Freegunner.
- A fresh map.
- New Freegunner Variants.
- Expanded cosmetics and rewards.
- Weekly Cinematic Vignettes enriching the Northstar crew storyline.
- An in-game store offering purely cosmetic items, ensuring fair play and balanced gameplay.
Beyond Season 1: A Year of Content
Season 2 is already planned for January 2025, promising a consistent stream of updates throughout Concord's first year. Firewalk Studios is committed to delivering regular seasonal content drops.
Mastering Concord: Team Building and Gameplay
Game director Ryan Ellis shared insights into optimal Concord gameplay. The "Crew Builder" system allows for strategic team composition. While players can select up to three copies of a Freegunner's Variants, the emphasis is on diverse roles for Crew Bonuses.
Unlike typical Tank/Support archetypes, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS and effective gunfights. The six roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) define their strategic impact, focusing on area control, sightline advantage, and flanking maneuvers. Balancing roles unlocks significant Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, recoil, cooldowns, and more.
