Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC features some truly frightening NPCs. A recent datamine, however, has revealed the surprisingly detailed character models hidden beneath their intimidating armor, shedding new light on their designs. While some models are relatively simple, others boast intriguing features that enhance their in-game lore.
Elden Ring's intricate lore, a significant draw alongside its challenging gameplay, often unfolds piecemeal through environmental storytelling. Dataminers play a crucial role in uncovering the complete narrative. A previous datamine exposed the model beneath the terrifying Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss. Now, a new video from YouTuber and Soulsborne dataminer Zullie the Witch delves even deeper, showcasing numerous NPCs without their armor. The level of detail FromSoftware incorporated, much of it unseen by players, is truly impressive. The unarmored appearances have captivated fans, with many praising the accuracy of Moore's design, for example.
Elden Ring Community Amazed by NPC Model Detail
Redmane Freyja's model is particularly noteworthy, showcasing facial scarring consistent with the Scarlet Rot affecting her character. This subtle detail, invisible in-game, adds significant depth to her story. Additionally, players have noted a striking resemblance between Tanith (from Elden Ring's Volcano Manor) and the Dancer of Ranah, a fitting parallel given Tanith's past as a dancer.
Some unexpected findings emerged from the datamine. Hornsent, for instance, lacks the horns suggested by the character's name. The dataminer suggests this omission is likely due to the need for a completely unique model. Fans, however, have pointed out that the DLC's addition of new hairstyles should have logically included horn customization options as well.
