After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all CD Projekt RED veterans remained with the company. Some, including the creators of The Blood of Dawnwalker, chose a different path.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, recently revealed, is the brainchild of Rebel Wolves studio, founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted several key reasons:
A desire to pursue different creative avenues with trusted friends led to the founding of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for role-playing games and their rich history fueled a desire to innovate and expand upon established RPG conventions. They conceived ambitious, unconventional ideas, realizing that implementing such novel concepts would be challenging within the structure of a large corporation, especially with new intellectual property. The decision to establish their own studio arose from the need for greater creative freedom and the willingness to take risks inherent in pursuing these innovative solutions.
Rebel Wolves fosters a collaborative and communicative work environment, contrasting with the complexities of larger studios. Tomaszkiewicz believes a smaller team allows for more efficient communication and simpler alignment around a shared vision, ultimately making it easier to ignite creative passion and develop something truly unique.
