Feral Interactive and The Creative Assembly are preparing to launch a major expansion for Total War. Titled Total War: EMPIRE – A New World, its key feature is that it's designed exclusively for mobile. The expansion is scheduled to launch on September 18.
Hundreds of hours of additional gameplay await
The update introduces new campaigns, balance adjustments, expanded unit rosters, and a range of new naval units. However, the most significant addition is the unlocking of 44 new playable factions, increasing the total to 55.
Players can now control every non-rebel nation in the Grand Campaign from the start. This means you can immediately lead factions like the United States, the Mughal Empire, Gran Colombia, or the Barbary States.
Each faction has received expanded unit options and tweaks to make smaller nations more viable in the later stages of the game. Naval combat has been bolstered with 14 new vessels. These range from smaller craft like dhows and light galleys to the colossal 140-gun Santísima Trinidad, a dominant warship of the late 18th century.

Two new campaigns feature in the Total War: EMPIRE – A New World expansion
The Late Start Campaign advances the Grand Campaign map to 1783, placing players in the heart of the Age of Revolutions. Colonial powers like Britain and France must now struggle to maintain control over their overseas territories.
The Warpath Campaign, previously a PC DLC, is making its mobile debut. It allows five Native American factions to engage in war on a focused single-theatre map. Additionally, the Iroquois, Cherokee, Plains Nations, Pueblo Nations, and the Huron are now fully playable in the Grand Campaign for the first time.
Total War: EMPIRE – A New World is launching as a mobile-exclusive expansion, a departure from the franchise's usual PC-first approach for major updates. The base game is available on the Google Play Store, with A New World priced at $6.99 as an in-app purchase.
