R.E.P.O. is a co-operative horror game where players share one primary objective – retrieve valuable items and survive the relentless threats lurking in every shadow. Achieving this goal proves far more challenging than it sounds, as an unpredictable array of monsters spawns throughout each location, hunting you relentlessly. However, if you manage to escape with your loot intact, both the game and its ominous AI enforcer, the Taxman, reward your efforts handsomely—allowing you to upgrade essential survival gear using your hard-earned cash.
Securing Extraction and Maximizing Rewards
Successfully retrieving valuable items means locating them and navigating safely to the Extraction Point, where your C.A.R.T. full of treasures is assessed. If successful, the Taxman clears your exit and grants access to the Service Station—ideally with a hefty sum of cash to invest in better equipment for your next run.
As you advance through R.E.P.O., the extraction process becomes increasingly familiar. What starts as a stressful endeavor quickly turns into routine practice as you gain experience battling enemies and mastering level layouts.
How to Extract in R.E.P.O.
In your initial round of R.E.P.O., only one Extraction Point will be available. Upon successfully completing that mission and advancing to the next location, the number of required extraction points increases—up to a maximum of four. You can track how many extractions remain by checking the red counter located in the top-right corner of your screen. This display also indicates how many have already been completed.
At the start of each level, the first Extraction Point is always positioned near your R.E.P.O. truck. This fixed location ensures you always know where to return your first haul. However, subsequent Extraction Points are randomized and must be discovered during gameplay, making navigation more complex.
After completing your first drop-off, you’ll continue exploring the level as normal. The challenge lies in not knowing the Taxman’s current demand or the exact location of the next drop-off point. This is where your in-game map becomes crucial. Pressing “Tab” on your keyboard reveals all unexplored areas, helping you plan efficient routes and coordinate with teammates to cover more ground simultaneously.
You won’t discover the next Extraction Point until you physically approach its area. Often, you'll hear it before you see it. Once located, press the large red button to reveal whether your collected valuables meet the Taxman’s requirements. If they do, place your C.A.R.T. within the designated zone—ensuring all items are fully contained within the grey boundary to avoid destruction.
Depending on how many Extraction Points remain, you may proceed to the next one by repeating the same steps or attempt to return to the truck safely. Notably, after completing the final extraction, there’s no need to bring the C.A.R.T. back to the truck. A new one will automatically appear in the next location or level.
