Mastering the Double Outfit Trick in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, while focused on action, offers extensive weapon and outfit customization. This guide details how to combine the benefits of two outfits for a significant gameplay advantage.
Remastered Version Required
This dual-outfit technique is exclusive to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. A recent patch introduced transmog, enabling you to retain one outfit's stats while visually wearing another.
Outfit Requirements
This method isn't universal. While your primary outfit is your choice, the secondary (for visual appearance) must be one of these three Banuk Werak outfits, found in the Frozen Wilds DLC:
- Banuk Werak Runner
- Banuk Werak Chieftain
- Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game+ only)
Note: Access to Frozen Wilds isn't contingent on completing the main game.
Obtaining the Banuk Werak Outfits
Banuk Werak Runner
Reach the Frozen Wilds, defeat the initial machine (adjust difficulty if needed), and purchase the outfit from any Bluegleam Merchant (blue merchant icon).
Resource | Normal Cost | Ultra Hard Cost |
---|---|---|
Metal Shards | 1000 | 5000 |
Desert Glass | 10 | 20 |
Slagshine Glass | 10 | 20 |
Banuk Werak Chieftain & Chieftain Adept
Complete the "For the Werak" quest (Frozen Wilds' third main quest). Consider lowering difficulty for easier completion. The Adept version is only available in NG+.
Combining Outfit Effects
Equip your desired outfit (optimizing stats with Weaves). Then, use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits. While these provide no additional stats, they offer crucial auto-healing after taking damage.
This strategy allows you to leverage your chosen outfit's superior stats and the auto-healing of the Banuk Werak outfits. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept offer significantly faster healing than the Runner. Combining this with an outfit like the Shield-Weaver makes you incredibly resilient.
