The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with a notable pricing distinction between its Japanese and global versions. This pricing strategy is poised to generate significant interest among gaming enthusiasts worldwide. Let's delve into the details of the Switch 2's pricing and its unique features.
Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions
Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system and a Multi-Language System. The Japanese version, exclusively available in Japan, is priced at approximately $330. In contrast, the Multi-Language System, designed for global markets, will be priced at $449.99. This significant price difference of over $100 can be attributed to the current exchange rate between the yen and the USD, making the Japanese version less appealing to international tourists due to the weaker yen.
Residents of Japan have the option to purchase either version. However, the Japanese-language system is exclusively for sale within Japan and requires a Nintendo Account set to Japan for linking. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
For fans looking to use the Switch 2 in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends purchasing the Multi-Language System version. More comprehensive details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
Switch 2 Will Be Sold By Lottery At The My Nintendo Store
Acquiring the Nintendo Switch 2 will involve participating in a lottery system through the My Nintendo Store. Starting April 24, retailers and online shops across the nation will also accept reservations or lottery entries, based on stock availability. To enter the My Nintendo Store lottery, applicants must meet the following criteria:

- At the time of application, you must have been subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online for a cumulative period of at least one year and maintain an active subscription.
