From the iconic 1970s *Incredible Hulk* series to the popular *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.*, and the gritty Netflix shows introducing Daredevil and Luke Cage, Marvel Comics has a long history of inspiring small-screen adaptations. Past attempts to connect live-action TV shows to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) often faltered—remember *Runaways* and *Cloak and Dagger*? But in 2021, Marvel Studios launched a new era. Disney+ became the platform for interconnected series deeply interwoven with the billion-dollar film franchise.
With the arrival of *Spider-Man: Freshman Year* as the 13th Disney+ Marvel show in just four years, we're taking a look back at the preceding Marvel Studios television series. Like the Avengers enjoying shawarma after the Battle of New York, the IGN Marvel experts have ranked all 12 Disney+ Marvel shows to date. 12. Secret Invasion
Disney+It's surprising to say, but *Secret Invasion* was widely considered the weakest Marvel Studios series to date. While the comic book event is monumental, the show didn't capture its essence. Director Ali Selim's admission of not reading the comics didn't help. While MCU adaptations sometimes thrive on creative visions, *Secret Invasion* lacked that spark. Aiming for the espionage tone of *Captain America: The Winter Soldier*, the story of Nick Fury battling a Skrull invasion fell short due to slow pacing, a jarring AI-generated opening, the unfortunate death of a beloved character, and an underwhelming new character unlikely to reappear.
11. Echo
Disney+A significant improvement over *Secret Invasion*, *Echo* still sits lower in our rankings. Alaqua Cox reprises her role from *Hawkeye*, delivering an intimate action story as Echo returns to her reservation, balancing her powers, past, and relationship with her adoptive father, Kingpin. A shortened episode count left some viewers wanting more. However, the series boasts impressive action sequences, including a standout fight with Daredevil. Its groundbreaking representation of Indigenous creatives, both on and off-screen, makes it a unique and emotionally resonant addition to the MCU.
10. Moon Knight
Disney+Oscar Isaac's *Moon Knight* might surprise some at this ranking. The series, exploring Marc Spector's multiple personalities, blends mystery, mayhem, and surrealism. It draws from *One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest*, *Indiana Jones*, and even Fox's *Legion*. While introducing the compelling Scarlet Scarab and boasting a strong cast including F. Murray Abraham and Ethan Hawke, *Moon Knight* couldn't quite reach the top.
9. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Disney+Despite high expectations, *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier* struggled to take flight. While Mackie and Stan's chemistry was a highlight, the series was hampered by ambiguous morality, heavy reliance on the Blip's aftermath, and a focus on espionage over action. Developed by Marvel Studios and initially slated for the first Disney+ release, the COVID-19 pandemic altered its release schedule. The production was impacted, pausing from March to August 2020. Regardless, its narrative elements remain crucial to the current MCU, notably influencing this year's *Thunderbolts* film.
