Plunderstorm Launch Delayed in World of Warcraft

Summary

  • The Plunderstorm event in WoW has been delayed due to unexpected issues.
  • No new estimated launch time has been revealed.
  • Players can complete other activities in WoW while waiting for Plunderstorm.

World of Warcraft's much-anticipated second Plunderstorm event has been delayed due to unforeseen challenges. While the team at Blizzard Entertainment is working diligently to resolve these issues, fans will need to wait a bit longer to dive back into the thrilling pirate-themed battle royale mode. Originally slated for a return on January 14, 2025, Plunderstorm promised both classic and fresh rewards for eager World of Warcraft players.

The Plunderstorm event, introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to make a comeback with an exciting array of new features, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. However, the planned six-hour maintenance window was extended to eight hours, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. Despite these efforts, World of Warcraft community manager Kaivax announced via a forum post that "unexpected issues" have further delayed the launch. While the team aims to have Plunderstorm up and running before the end of January 14, no specific new launch time has been provided.

When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?

  • Before the end of January 14, after "unexpected issues" are resolved

In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are back online, allowing players to engage in various in-game activities. Whether it's completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring other content in The War Within, there's plenty to keep players occupied while they await Plunderstorm's return.

The delay in Plunderstorm's launch has not affected the availability of the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops. Players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST. Notably, the streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to make progress on the Drop, providing fans with an opportunity to earn rewards while waiting for the game mode to go live.

The team at Blizzard is hopeful that the new features, possibly the cause of the unexpected issues, will be resolved swiftly, allowing fans to once again enjoy the swashbuckling action of Plunderstorm.
