Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 nerfs are being rolled back after significant player backlash. A hotfix, 4.1, is scheduled for October 24th, reversing the most controversial balance changes. This follows negative Steam reviews and community outcry.
Developer Saber Interactive acknowledged the criticism, stating that Patch 4.0 aimed to increase enemy numbers, particularly on higher difficulties, but unintentionally made lower difficulties too hard. The upcoming patch will address this.
Key Changes in Hotfix 4.1:
- Enemy Spawns: Extremis enemy spawn rates are being reduced across all difficulties, significantly so on Ruthless.
- Player Armor: A 10% armor buff for Ruthless difficulty.
- Bot AI: Bots will deal 30% more damage to bosses.
- Bolt Weapon Buffs: Significant damage increases across the entire Bolt weapon family (see detailed list below).
Bolt Weapon Damage Increases:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)
Saber Interactive also announced plans to launch public test servers in early 2025 to gather feedback and prevent future balance issues. The developers will continue monitoring player feedback after the release of Patch 4.1 to ensure the game's difficulty remains appropriately challenging.
