The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 4, starring Ciri as the protagonist.
Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter, takes center stage as the next generation of Witchers steps into the spotlight. The trailer depicts Ciri intervening in a village's disturbing ritualistic sacrifice, revealing a darker plot than initially apparent.
While a release date remains unannounced, considering the development times of previous titles (Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077), a three-to-four-year timeframe is a reasonable estimate. This suggests a current-generation console release, likely on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC simultaneously. A Switch port seems less likely, though a potential Switch 2 release is possible.
Gameplay details are scarce, but the trailer hints at familiar elements like potions, Signs, and combat. A new addition may be Ciri's chain, used for both combat and magic. Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's involvement, albeit in a supporting role, potentially as a mentor.
