Xbox's Multi-Platform Push Expands: Halo and Flight Simulator Rumored for PS5 and Switch 2
Reports suggest a significant expansion of Microsoft's multi-platform strategy, with potential releases of major Xbox franchises on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Industry insider NateTheHate claims that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is slated for both consoles, with a projected 2025 release. This six-game compilation could mark a major shift for the iconic franchise.
Microsoft's commitment to bringing first-party titles to other platforms began in February 2024, with titles like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves leading the charge. As Dusk Falls, while not a Microsoft-developed title, also transitioned from Xbox exclusivity. Further solidifying this strategy, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on non-Xbox platforms in October 2024, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is expected on PS5 in Spring 2025.
NateTheHate also predicts that Microsoft Flight Simulator, likely referring to the recently released MFS 2024, will also make its way to PS5 and Switch 2 sometime in 2025.
This multi-platform expansion is supported by another insider, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be arriving on PS5 and Switch 2. Corden's statements reinforce the belief that the era of exclusive Xbox titles is drawing to a close.
The future of Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms is also noteworthy. Microsoft's ten-year agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to their consoles, announced in late 2022, is likely awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2 before launching any titles. This suggests a strategic alignment with the anticipated capabilities of the next-generation Nintendo console.
