Stroop Effect Test

This app lets you experience the fascinating Stroop Effect and challenge your cognitive abilities. It highlights the conflict between automatic processing (visual color recognition) and controlled processing (reading color words).

The Stroop test challenges your brain by pitting the speed of visual input against the processing speed of your rational mind. Neuroscience shows that visual signals reach the brain much faster than rational thought processes. Time pressure intensifies this conflict, leading to impulsive incorrect responses. You'll need focus and speed to overcome this!

How to Play:

Choose one of two modes: "Get Meaning, Put Color" (the default) or "Get Color, Put Meaning."

Each question presents a color word (e.g., "red") printed in a different color (e.g., blue). Your task is to:

• Get Meaning, Put Color: Click the button matching the meaning of the word (in the example, click the red button).
• Get Color, Put Meaning: Click the button with the color the word is printed in (in the example, click the blue button).

Aim for as many correct answers as possible. Once you master accuracy, focus on improving your speed.
