Resident Evil Goes Strategic in New Mobile Survival Game
Following last week's announcement of a Resident Evil mobile adaptation, Aniplex has revealed more details about Resident Evil Survival Unit. The strategy-horror hybrid is now accepting pre-registrations on Android ahead of its planned 2025 global release.
Developed in collaboration with Joycity Corporation, the game will launch simultaneously in Japan, Korea, North America, Europe and select Asian markets. Yesterday's YouTube premiere showcased the first in-depth gameplay footage, revealing a departure from traditional Resident Evil mechanics.
A Fresh Take on Biohazard Horror
Set in a parallel timeline to the main series, Survival Unit opens in a quarantined hospital where players awaken as Umbrella Corporation test subjects. Rather than the classic survival horror format, gameplay combines real-time tactics with survival elements.
The central hub is a sprawling mansion serving as operations base, where players can:
- Decorate and upgrade facilities
- Manage resources and craft equipment
- Interact with iconic characters including Leon, Claire and Jill
- Plan missions and purchase weapons from the mysterious Merchant
Pre-Registration Now Live
Though no concrete release date has been announced, Android users can now pre-register via the Google Play Store. Check out the gameplay reveal below:
Horror Artistry Meets Gameplay
Adding to the atmospheric dread, renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano has created a terrifying new creature called Mortem. Known for his dreamlike-yet-nightmarish style, Amano's contribution promises to deliver signature unsettling visuals.
While awaiting the game's launch, horror fans can explore other new releases like the recently launched Red Bull Playgrounds.
