Firaxis, the developer behind Civilization 7, has just released details about the highly anticipated Update 1.1.1. This update comes at a critical time, as the game is seeing fewer players on Steam compared to its predecessors, Civilization 6 and the much older Civilization 5. Currently, Civilization 7 boasts a 24-hour peak player count of 16,921 on Steam, which isn't enough to secure a spot in the platform's top 100 most-played games. In contrast, Civilization 5, despite being released in 2010, has seen a peak of 17,423 players within the same timeframe, while Civilization 6 from 2016 has attracted a significantly higher number at 40,676 players.
In a detailed post on Steam, Firaxis has shared an exciting list of "additions and refinements" that will be introduced with Update 1.1.1. These include:

Civilization 7 Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes:
----------------------------------------The Quick Move feature has been made optional, allowing players to toggle it on in the game’s menu. This enhancement enables units to reach their destination instantly, streamlining gameplay for a faster experience.
A new start position option related to map generation has been added. For single-player games, the default setting is now Standard, offering a more varied and unpredictable map akin to Civilization 6. Multiplayer games will continue to use the Balanced setting, ensuring a level playing field with consistent maps.
Players can now rename their settlements and commanders, adding a personal touch to their civilizations. Additionally, a restart feature allows players to regenerate the map with new seeds while retaining their chosen leader and civilization.
User interface improvements include a city and town panel that remains open during purchases, new notifications for cities under attack, indicators for crises, and enhanced resource tooltips. The update also brings significant pacing changes to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Alongside these updates, the paid Crossroads of the World Collection introduces new civilizations Bulgaria and Nepal, as well as the new leader Simón Bolívar, all available starting March 25.
