KartRider: Drift to Cease Global Operations

Nexon has announced the discontinuation of the globally available KartRider: Drift. This mobile, console, and PC title, launched in January 2023, will officially cease operations later this year across all platforms.

Will Asian Servers Also Shut Down?

No. The Asian versions (Taiwan and South Korea) will remain operational, although Nexon plans significant updates. Details regarding these changes and any potential future global relaunch remain undisclosed.

KartRider: Drift Global Shutdown Timing?

Nexon hasn't provided a specific date for the global shutdown. The game is currently still available on the Google Play Store, offering players a chance to experience it before its closure later this year.

Reasons Behind the Shutdown Decision:

Despite efforts to provide a seamless global experience, KartRider: Drift faced challenges. Player feedback highlighted frustrations with excessive automation, leading to repetitive gameplay. Technical issues, including suboptimal performance on some Android devices and numerous bugs, further hampered the game's success. These factors prompted Nexon to reassess its global strategy.

The focus will now shift to the Korean and Taiwanese PC versions, aiming to revitalize the original game concept. Nexon hopes to refine the experience and achieve its initial vision.
