Nintendo fans have finally discovered the developer behind Switch 2's launch title Welcome Tour - a minigame compilation that doubles as an interactive tutorial for the new console. Many players argue this experience should have been offered complimentary.
While Welcome Tour doesn't credit its creator internally, Mario Party specialist Nintendo Cube (previously NDcube) has updated its official site confirming development. This Tokyo-based Nintendo subsidiary founded in 2000 specializes in minigame collections.
The studio's track record includes mixed releases like Wii Party (distinct from Wii Play's bundled controller version) and the underwhelming Wii U title Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival.
Recent years saw Nintendo Cube deliver Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics for Switch before the poorly received Everybody 1-2 Switch, which earned some of Nintendo's lowest review scores ("A party game that might leave you with fewer friends," per IGN's 4/10 review).
The developer earned its reputation primarily through the Mario Party franchise, taking helm from Mario Party 9 onward through subsequent entries including Mario Party Superstars and Super Mario Party.
Their upcoming Switch 2 release Super Mario Party Jamboree Edition launches July 24, showcasing the new console's mouse controls and optional camera peripheral.

Despite its budget pricing, Welcome Tour faced criticism for its heavy reliance on mouse controls and requirements including a camera peripheral, Switch 2 Charging Grip or Pro Controller, plus a 4K TV for optimal experience and completion.
IGN's review noted: "Even as a hypothetical pack-in title, Welcome Tour's execution falters - presenting a disjointed assortment of simplistic tech demos and unengaging trivia disguised as meaningful completion challenges."
