Tichu: A Thrilling Card Game Combining Bridge, Daihinmin, and Poker Elements

Tichu is a captivating card game played by two teams of two, with partners sitting opposite each other. Teams collaborate to score points and achieve victory. The game unfolds over multiple rounds, with the first team to reach a predetermined point total declared the winner.

The Tichu deck comprises 56 cards across four suits: Jade, Swords, Pagodas, and Stars. Each suit contains cards ranked 2 through 10, J, Q, K, and A. Four unique special cards add a layer of strategy: the Dragon, the Phoenix, the Hound, and the Mah Jong.

Each player receives an initial hand of eight cards and has the opportunity to declare "Grand Tichu," a 200-point wager that they will be the first to discard all their cards. Following this declaration phase, six additional cards are dealt, and the "Grand Tichu" option closes. Players can also call "Tichu" (a 100-point bet on being the first to empty their hand) at any time before playing their first card. The timing and point values differentiate "Grand Tichu" and "Tichu."

After the initial deal (14 cards per player), a card exchange occurs. Each player secretly passes one card to every other player—three cards in total.

The player holding the "Mah Jong" card initiates the gameplay. They lead with a valid combination, and subsequent players can either pass or play a higher-ranking combination (exceptions exist for "Bombs," which are explained in more detail in the game rules). Winning combinations are determined by rank, with single cards, pairs, sequences, and full houses all judged accordingly. The player who plays the highest combination wins the trick and leads the next round. The round concludes when two teammates have discarded all their cards. If only one player remains with cards, they incur a penalty, transferring their hand to their opponents' collected tricks and receiving the opponents' collected tricks in return.

The game concludes when a team accumulates or surpasses the target point total set before the game's commencement.

Tichu is a fun and strategic card game. It's easy to learn but difficult to master. I love playing with friends!
