Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Update Enhances Banner System, Boosts Player Freedom

Author : Bella May 21,2025

Gacha mechanics are a fundamental aspect of Honkai Star Rail, and it appears that miHoYo, now known as HoYoverse, is set to enhance player control over character pulls. Exciting leaks suggest that significant changes to the banner system will be introduced starting with version 3.2, promising a new way for players to engage with the game's gacha mechanics.

Insider reports from Sakura Haven indicate that the upcoming 3.2 update will feature a customizable pity system for limited banners. This means players will no longer be bound to a standard pool of characters for 50/50 pity pulls. Instead, they'll have the ability to select their preferred characters from a limited set. These chosen characters can either partially or fully replace the default pool, empowering players with greater control over their rewards.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool includes 7 standard characters. With version 3.2, this will be updated to a 'Group' of characters from which you can choose. You'll have the freedom to select 7 characters from this 'Group' to form your personalized 50/50 pity pool. Consequently, if you lose a 50/50 roll, you'll receive a character from your customized pool rather than the default standard lineup.

The 'Group' will initially consist of the 7 standard characters along with a limited selection of additional characters for you to choose from.

This update has the potential to significantly improve the player experience by minimizing frustration and enhancing flexibility. By enabling players to tailor their pity pool, miHoYo is tackling one of the most frequent criticisms of gacha systems: the unpredictability of losing pity rolls. With the opportunity to prioritize specific characters, players will have an increased likelihood of acquiring units that align with their playstyle or preferences.

However, specifics about which characters will be available in the selectable pool are still unclear. It's uncertain whether the pool will include past limited characters, current banner units, or even entirely new additions.

These proposed changes reflect miHoYo's ongoing commitment to refining Honkai Star Rail and making it more player-friendly. By introducing a customizable pity system, the developers are recognizing the significance of player choice in gacha games. This move could establish a new benchmark for how similar systems are designed in other titles.

Although the exact implementation and impact of this feature are yet to be seen, the announcement has already ignited excitement within the community. Fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will influence their gameplay experience when Honkai Star Rail 3.2 is released.
