Dynasty Warriors: Origins offers varying difficulty levels to cater to different player skillsets. This guide helps determine the best difficulty setting for your experience.
While the game initially presents three difficulty options—Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard)—a fourth, Ultimate Warrior (very hard), unlocks upon completing a faction's main scenario. There's an achievement for completing a battle on Ultimate Warrior, but no campaign-completion achievements tied to difficulty.
Choosing the Right Difficulty:
-
Historian (Easy): Ideal for newcomers to the genre or players prioritizing story over challenge. Enemies are easily staggered, bravery is readily gained, and Musou Gauge fills quickly.
-
Wayfarer (Normal): The recommended starting point for most players, even those with limited Musou experience. Offers a balanced challenge.
-
Hero (Hard): Best suited for experienced Musou players or those seeking a greater challenge. Enemies are tougher, parry and evade windows are shorter, and rewards are slightly reduced.
-
Ultimate Warrior (Very Hard): An extremely challenging option for seasoned veterans, unlocked after completing a faction's campaign. Expect significantly reduced rewards and even tighter timing for parries and evades.
Players can adjust the difficulty between battles via the in-game menu without affecting the story progression.
Difficulty Differences:
The key differences between difficulties lie in enemy aggression, player capabilities, and rewards:
-
Historian: All enemy attacks are easily blocked; staggering enemies, gaining bravery, and filling the Musou Gauge is simplified.
-
Hero & Ultimate Warrior: Enemies are stronger and more aggressive; parry and evade windows are significantly reduced. Hero mode reduces rewards slightly; Ultimate Warrior further diminishes rewards. Meat Buns are not dropped in Hero or Ultimate Warrior modes. Blocking depletes bravery in Hero and Ultimate Warrior. The time available to influence army battles is also reduced.
Choose the difficulty that best suits your skill and desired level of challenge, remembering you can always adjust it later.
